One fine weekend, me and my husband decided to go to Los Angeles( a sudden thought) ,pamper ourselves and have some fun. We thought we’d leave on friday evening..but you know… we were jus lazy n tired and thought we’d cancel the trip. While going to bed we thought ..alyite lets just go[we didn’t even plan, just decided to go..lol :)]The next day morning we got up @ 8:00 am and we were surfing on the net where to rent a car..
Finally!! we found that the Enterprise rent a car was close by to our place.. we both rushed to the store[ started @ 11:30 to pick up the car..lol!! we were damn tensed..what if the store is closed since it was sat..and the timings were 9:00 am to 12 noon :o ].. but we were lucky enough*phew*.. filled all the papers took the car n drove back to our home.. Ah! now starts the fun part .. we packed our stuff , got the directions to LA Universal Studio and…that’s it!! we were out on the road.

Initially the journey was boring.. i was feeling damn sleepy *yawns* , but i started taking some pictures on the way. here are a few:

ye ye ..all the mountains n stuff.

umm..so where was I.. oh yea .. i remember.. we drove n drove n*phew* …so we stayed @ a motel for the night ..few miles away from LA.. had some nice food ..*yummy!?!* the next morning we got ready n we reached LA!!! *vooohooooo* lolz there was a small problem…well.. we took the right exit.. after taking the exit, we had to turn left ..but we turned right… we drove n drove n finally we ckecked the map n realised that we were going in the wrong direction. Made a U-turn ..n we finally made it to the Universal Studio. :o

And the fun begins!! ..took the tickets.. entered inside( damn! I forgot to take a picture with Mr. Charlie Chaplin) n the first thing we did was—— looking @ the map :D.. we were confused which one to see first.. I wanted to check the ‘Shrek 3D’ n Uday ( mah hubby) wanted to see somethin else. hmmm..then we decided to check the Van Helsing thing ‘coz it was right in front of us… it was damn COOL!! n scary too ;) ..

we went in .. I was looking at the structure, how they designed the whole theme.. and all of a sudden i screamed( well not too loud)——-Y?——- there was this guy with all the scary costumes put on was standing right beside me.. I didn’t even notice until i turned towards him :( …My heartbeat stopped of a sec… n later I started laughing @ myself as to how stupid I was.

I was speaking to mahself.. when the hell would I get out from here :D. Oh!! n there was this small tunnel.. where u have to pass through it.. we u might be thinking Big Deal!! well it was rotating… lolz!! the side wall keeps rotatin n u feel as if u r gonna fall…
Finally!! we were @ the end.. there was a couple in front of us..they had to go…but *augh* they started shoutin —-Y?—— there was a bear to the right.. it keeps coming on U( well not a real bear..lol!!) …Uff they litterally took 5-8 mins to pass that… then was our turn..we were kewl.. just passed it(how??… we bent down n left;) kewl isn’t it)

Ah!! Mah fav movie stars!! Shrek n Fiona :)

Next was the Shrek 4D film… was super COOL!!! we had to put on the 4D glasses..n sit in a chair which moves back n forth.. was riding with shrek n donkey..Ah!! how can i forget Donkey(Are we there Yet!!! :)) @ one scene there were all spiders.. :)) I felt as if i those spiders were all over me ..n suddenly i felt that spider crawled near my foot.. :o.. but at the end of the show i figured it out that there was a small wire…. on the whole the show was awesome( a 30 min show)..

Our next stop was at the ‘Jurrasic Park’.. we waited for a full 1 hr to get into the rides n see whats in there??? thoughts started pourin in * is this gonna be same like the Van Helsing or is it gonna be a scary ride with all the ups n downs!?!*.. as I was thinkin it was our turn to get into the small boat!?! (total of 10-15 ppl in one boat) but to my surpirse it wasn’t ..pleasant.. enjoyed the whole thing until the end of the ride came.. I have no words to put…check @ the pic… I;m sure ur gonna burst out laughing

Los Angels Universal Studio beaches in california

did u find where I am??? if not take a second look

lolz :D.. I thought i was gonna fall down..n closed mah eyes..the fun part was when we got down the man gave uday a small receipt where we can collect our pictures….i was just seeing @ the pictures…and :D i see myself there…i couldn’t control laughing at mah own picture.. (was laughin all the way) i didnt knew that there was a camera there.

Well that was the jurrasic park ride :Dlol! “what I thought it would be ..n how it tunred out to be”

we took abreak..had mexican food… salsa chips n burrito. Right across was the fear factor thing..i was very excited..whats it gonna be like… but i didn’t want to go..’coz that reminded me of the fear factor series on TV. *tsk tsk*.. we really wanted to see the major ones like waterworld and the universal studio tour n other stuff.

So we chose to go for the Tour.. the guide was showing few sets …the old mexico city set, the jaws movie set etc etc., It was very nice.. well I’m not gonna post all the pictures here..but you can sure check them out in the ‘pics n video’ channels

uff… we thought that we would finish all the rides in just 3 hrs!!!! n go to the disney land ..lolz..that was so stupid to think

I was so tired …i just wanted to go n sleep.. but one more was left to our list : Waterworld
*ahem* what to say :o ..too good!?! ye it was awesome.. a 30 min show.. all the actors (who once acted in some movies) i wanted to sit in the wet zone.. but uday didn’t wanted to .. :( i just wanted to walk out ..coz it was damn sunny) … not doubts ..The show was just too good! omg!!

Los Angels Universal Studio beaches in california

after that i rushed and had ice-cream.. :) ah! i felt much much betta .. I said to uday..now lets just go home ..I’m done.. I’m tired.. lol! even he was tired!! but we decided to atleast see where the disney land is and the UCLA… we ditched that for another a sudden thought..how about malibu?? ….. just kept on driving.. and suddenly another sudden & stupid thought..”how about we go to San Diego… the place is good…even the beaches…shall we go” , asks my sweet Uday… ‘ I was questioning myself- is he not tired…San Diego!?! :o ‘ lol

then I looked into the Map n then said well Its too Far!! You have to go to the office tomorrow!!

“Yea” - he said
“then lets go home” -me

so we decided to go back home after visiting malibu on the route 10 and go back on the Pacific Highway 1 (thats where we made a stop @ the Malibu beach). Had a good time there..lovely beach and a nice scenic drive!

Then we took the highway 27(principal highway> jus looked it up in tha map ;)) n then merged onto 101 n( i was sleeping*zzzzzzzz*..) again take the route 405 ..*phew* …. and then merge onto route 5 ….*phew*

grrrr…. :x finally we were on 5 north driving back home.. and then I drove the car for a couple of hrs … had dinner@ ihop… I did not like the food at all… i mean its good…but the prices..nah! :x ..too high for my pan cake and cheese omelette :)).

And we reached home safely @ around 1:00 in the night :o :)

hmmm…thats the whole story..’our trip to LA. …
no doubt you must be Yawning like me *yawns* *tsk tsk* ..if you did not, please leave some comments on what we missed :)

beaches in california

I’ve heard a lot people taking about this beach …and so we made a stop at the Malibu beach… It was a bright sunny day.. in one word “just beautiful” .. ..

A beautiful lagoon beach with white sandy beaches, the mountains(check at the picture again!) and casual ambience is Southern California’s famous beach for Surfriders. Yes that’s right… surf riders ..if you love surfing then this beach is the best.. must say.

We were drving on the Pacific Coastal Highway ‘1 ‘…’gorgeous!!’ and the words on a road sign are accurate: “Malibu, 27 Miles of Scenic Beauty”. The Highway ‘1′ is one of the busy roads i ever saw with shops, hotels, restaurents, condos, houses(my O my..they are just too good! Oh! yes even the prices r awesome ;) no doubt ..it might range from $5 m to $25 m or even more), and a beautiful ocean within the view.

Its got beautiful attractions, but we didnt have much time to check them out.. anyways, If you are visiting Malibu , then you should check these:

>If you like fishing, then Malibu Creek Bridge which is the Malibu Pier, is the best place for saltwater fishing.

>If you like to sit back and watch the nature, then the west side of MalibuCreek Bridge is the nature area with great bird watching, wetland guided tours of natural elements such the as monarch butterfly, tidepools.

>”ZumaBeach” which is the widest sandy beach in Malibu. This beach is popular for sports and ideal for the families. [ :( ..Damn! I missed it]

>Another attraction is the Westward Beach, a part of Point Dume State Beach.… click on the ‘Point Dume State’ for more details!

And the best hotel to stay is the Malibu Beach Inn
It’s considered as the outstanding beach accommodations overlooking Malibu Lagoon Beach.

Want to have a ncie dinner overlooking the beach? , then I suggest

Malibu Chart House
. It is the best restaurent which has a spectacular ocean viewing dining room, located right on topanga beach. The restaurent features magnificent sunset views of Topanga Point and Santa Monica Bay.

And there is aHindu temple located in Malibu. It’s said that this temple is very beautiful… a must see !!

I wish we had visited the Hindu Temple..but I’m going to make it next time!
Though we stayed there for 1 1/2 hr, our trip to the Malibu, the Beach was a delightful experience.

Top 10 most memorable Hindi movie quotes

Kitne admi the – Sholay (1975)

In her well researched and immensely readable book on Sholay, Anupama Chopra says that the popularity of a movie can be assessed by the ad spoofs it inspires. From the time of its release in 1975, kitney aadmi the has churned out innumerable ads. So is Gabbar’s kitne admi the Hindi movie’s most memorable dialogue ever? Sholay was the first movie to bring out an audio of the film’s dialogues and the experiment was a raging success. The dialogues sold more than R D Burman’s compositions! From jo dar gaya samjho mar gaya to < karta drama ghari>and tumhara naam kya hai Basanti anyone who has seen the movie, has his own favourite dialogue.

Yeh bacchhon ke khelne ki cheez nahi, haath kat jaaye toh khoon nikal aata hai’ – Waqt (1965)

Directed by Yash Chopra and produced by B R Chopra, this multi-starer blockbuster established some of Hindi movies most recurrent and popular themes: brothers separated at birth, who keep meeting each other without realizing their kinship; one brother grows up virtuous, the other is on the wrong side of the law; rich girl falling in love with an idealistic poor man. Waqt also set the trend for all future Yash Chopra movies, with opulent houses, lush manicured lawns, ladies dressed prettily in chiffon and designer churidars, flashy big cars and song sequences in the verdant valleys of Kashmir (which later shifted to Switzerland).

Babumoshai…! – Anand (1970)

Rajesh Khanna was already a superstar when he co-starred with the gangly Amitabh who looked quite uncharismatic next to the effervescent charmer. Rajesh Khanna’s babumoshai was replete with affection, warmth and had a teasing note to it. It wasn’t an artificially contrived Bengali mannerism like Bhansali’s bondhu or shotti from Devdas. The same playfully affectionate address takes on profoundly tragic overtones when Rajesh Khanna’s recorded message tries to comfort his friend Amitabh, as Amitabh weeps over the death of his patient (Rajesh Khanna), who had also become his closest friend

Aap ke paon dekhe, bahut haseen hai. Inhe zameen par mat utariyega — maile ho jayenge – Pakeezah (1972)

Raj Kumar’s gravelly rendition of this immortal sentence has become synonymous with classic romance and chivalry. It was delivered as a ‘voice over’ through a letter that Meena Kumari discovers left on her train berth. The irony is of course that the courtesan Sahibjaan (Meena Kumari) earns her living through mujras, where she has to get her feet dirty, enticing men with her dance. The train’s piercing whistle recurs as a leitmotif throughout the movie, reminding her of her secret admirer and holds out the promise of a better life, away from men who purchase her beauty at the kotha.

Mujhse dosti karoge? Bobby (1973)

Dimple puts out her hand and asks Rishi mujhse dosti karoge? Seems like a simple request but it created cinematic history of sorts. Never before had a girl been so forward as to make the first move. That too with a handshake. It was unheard of, since Hindi film heroines normally simpered and shied away from any bodily contact until the man had wooed her. In a short skirt and with a wide-eyed quizzical _expression, Bobby (Dimple), is unabashed youthfulness and sexiness personified. The line also became the most hackneyed ice-breaker in college campuses all over the country.

Mere pas ma hai – Deewar (1975)

Nirupama Roy, the quintessential long suffering, patient and gentle ‘ma’ in innumerable Hindi movies, became immortalized as the ‘ma’ whom Amitabh could not win over with his gari, bari and bungalow. That single stark sentence was brilliantly juxtaposed against Amitabh’s rantings about his material possessions. Mere pas ma hai summed up the entire gamut of moral issues that were at stake in the movie. Ponderous generalizations such as ‘crime does not pay’, ‘money cannot buy love’ and ‘the end does not justify the means’ were put across succinctly and simply through this single sentence. Another classic quote from the Salim – Javed duo.

Mogambo khush hua – Mr. India (1987)

Amrish Puri could never live down his Mogambo image (his evil priest role in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom was simply another exaggerated and more grotesque Mogambo). Mogambo khush hua was eccentric evil incarnate, in colourful Bollywood hyperbole. He wore outlandish clothes, made his eyes as big as saucers, threatened hapless victims into submission and then chortled out loud Mogambo khush hua.

Children loved him because he seemed a caricature straight out of a comic strip.

Dosti mein no sorry, no thank you – Maine Pyar Kiya (1988)

Saccharine…but teenagers loved this new definition of friendship. Friendship badges and stickers became a rage in schools, which was in itself, a completely new phenomenon in India (to be revived as friendship bands after Kuch Kuch Hota Hai hit the screen in 2003). “Love means never having to say you are sorry”, from Love Story was the inspiration for this dialogue. The theme of friendship between a girl and a boy is juxtaposed against the cynical view ek ladka aur ek ladki kabhi dost nahin ban sakte, questioning the innocence and purity of their relationship.

Mein chota sa, pyara sa, nanha sa, baccha hoon – Chaalbaaz (1989)

One of Shakti Kapoor’s first comic roles in striped knee length drawers with the drawer string hanging out, which went on to become a staple character in David Dhawan movies. By this time Shakti Kapoor had exhausted his range of villainous expressions. He tried his hand at comedy and proved to be a huge success. Ever since then, he has been repeating this dialogue in umpteen shows and TV interviews. And why did he say he was a baccha? Because he thought Sridevi wanted to seduce him, when in reality, she wanted to beat the living daylights out of him!

Bade bade deshon mein, aisi choti choti baatein hoti rahti hain - Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (1995)

Youngsters picked this line up and used it whenever they had to justify a meaningless, random act. It was thought to be ‘cool’ and witty. Shah Rukh Khan of course epitomized the cool dude. That he was a second generation Indian, settled abroad increased his appeal to all aspiring yuppies back in India! The comment was quintessential Raj – the carefree, rich, mischievous, but heart-in-the-right-place, lover boy who wooed Kajol and millions of girls in India and abroad with his mandolin in tujhe dekha to yeh jana sanam.
