Rang De Basanti
January 7th, 2006 by Archana
Rang De Basanti - When I heard the title , it reminded me of the movie Sholay ( Hema Malini’s screen name was basanti ). I thought it was some pop album until later my sister asks me if I heard the songs. She is a fan of A.R.Rehman and his compositions. Well, who is not?
I like his songs and was excited to hear his tunes for this movie.
These are the songs I like :
1. Masti ki Paathshala
- sung by Naresh Iyer, Mohammed Aslam
This song is much liked by everyone …I see my friends singing this song .. n so do I ![]()
Loose Control
2. Masti ki Paathshala, Be a Rebel
-Blaaze, Aslam, Naresh Iyer
The lyrics are the same with a little variation in the music
Be a Rebel
3. Rang de Basanti
- Daler Mehendi, Chitra
I’ve always been a fan of Daler Mehendi . A mixture of punjabi music .
4. Khalbali
- AR. Rahman, Aslam, Nacim
With a touch of arabic music.
Did you know how many times the word ‘ Khalbali ‘ is used? My guess is 93 ![]()
let me know if my guess is wrong
5. Khoon Chala
- Mohit Chauhan
I like the instruments used for this song : nice mix of Violin and Piano
6. Tu Bin Bataye
- Madushree, Naresh Iyer
Slow song , good. But its juzz too slow ..[ lyk a bed time song :)) ]
7. Luka Chuppi
- Lata Mangeshkar, A.R.Rehman
I like it because Lataji sang this song
The movie is releasing on 20th Jan here in Fremont .. looking forward to see the movie!

I just heard the songs and I like what he did in ‘loose control’. Sounds like some studio re-mix of one of those late 80’s song to start with but really catches up in the next 3 lines!
I like the idea of three-word phrases broken up into three different symbols (naakoyi-padhne-wala). It has not been tried in a while.
