As contentsutra reports on a case filed at bombay high court in public interest by a lawyer .Bombay HighCourt has served a notice to google to explaing presence of such Hate communities in its networking website.

For those who dont know this is the issue

“The issue is with the profile pic of a community on Orkut called “We hate India” that features an Indian flag being burnt”

Well this is what google`s disclaimer states

” We may, but shall have no obligation to, remove Materials that we determine in our sole discretion are unlawful, fraudulent, threatening, libelous, defamatory, obscene or otherwise objectionable, or infringes or violates any party’s intellectual property or other proprietary rights or these Terms of Service.”

I think we and google both have enough things to worry about than some 100 people who seem to hate india .They are neither the majority nor do they really matter.Google has other serious issues like censorship in China and a recent involvement in Brazil over a row if public records should be allowed to be viewed relationg to children viewing porn sites.

If you were to actually count the number of hate communities , i think its we indians who will top the list be it our hatred towards Aishwarya Rai , or when we hate our assignments ,our exams and the list is endless. What if the celebrities were to start off a case againts google or the person who started such a forum on a popular networking website. And contrary to reports its not the americans who do it. Its usually the Asian people usualy india and pakistan .Americans generally prefer Friendster .

Almost all of these owned by indians !!

Although it will be interesting how google answers these questions :)
