As vista finally seems to be arriving in to the market next january ,lots of problems seems to be accompanying it too. For those of you who live it up on the latest computers , you can check if you really need this .

* The cost for setting up a computer which workes well with Vista is high.It requires 1GB ram to just be able to move around .

*If you dont register your windows version within 30 days ,then you end up in a situation where your computer works just for 1 hour and that too just a browser (as slashdot reports)

* An upgrade from WinXP to Vista will cost you around $3250 to $5000 (as slashdot reports )

*Most people be it students or proffessionals usually have a dual boot with Linux /XP .But Vista is going to make Dual boot just a little more difficult .It comes along with a Hardware based

Everyone realizes the amount of effort an entrepreneur puts into his startup. His time and energy can only be measured in blood & sweat. Even more so, in a multi-dimensional, competitive world of today where we have online portals thriving entirely on startup news !

However, is it possible that a successful entrepreneur could be working himself out of a job ? Atleast, Noam Wasserman’s research published in HBS suggests so.

I like the common man’s analogy that the best captain for speed boats in the world may not be the best resource for running an oil tanker. To support his argument, Wasserman’s presents a case study of Lew Cirne, the founder of Wily Technology.

I am a personal witness to the change in pace that affects an organization’s thinktank after the company hits breakeven or gets bought over or just plain survives the first three years.

However, I also witnessed the extraordinary metamorphosis that some of the founding members went through after deciding to stay put. Some of them even went on create a project to identify a core set of ‘values’ that would not change with a changing face of the company and its financial prosperity.

Personally, I feel that it is time to reconvene a company’s priorities and leadership goals once the tipping point arrives. Beyond this line, it is impossible for each and every employee to continue to thrive on caffeine shots and weekend work for pizza slices.

I may not agree that it is hard for an entrepreneur to change or ’slow down for a change’ because ‘change’ is something he deals with everyday. However, it was certainly interesting to see someone bring up the change in atittude that needed to be displayed.

Nothing personal but I was wondering why humor gets up, close and offensive to us sometimes. We donot seem to mind if it comes from someone who belongs to our community or race per-se but, all hell breaks loose when it is someone outside our box.

For example, Russell Peters could beat the heck out of cheap habits and take us to the cleaners essentially. That works. In fact, it rocks! We did not know him personally before we saw his shows. Neither do we know him for any outstanding contributions to the Canadian-Indian community besides his gift for entertainment. Yet, he is admired and loved in almost all Indian communities outside the mothership, FOBs and SOBs alike.

Then again, some Fandango commercial makes fun of ‘Bollywood’, an industry that I enjoy but have no vested interests in and …I feel offended. At the very least, a wee-bit unpleasant. Some senator on his Campaign trail in some remote part of Virginia calls an Indian student ‘mukake or whatever his name is’ and it hits me right in the face. For all I know, I never knew this student before. Yet again, if I heard of him on the news in a different context, let us say for getting away with a fair amount of ‘laughing behind FOB backs’, would I still feel like he is ‘one of us’?!

So, when does a spoof on a person/system’s habit-shop evoke a sense of empathy in us and when does it turn us into a ‘giggle monster’ ?

Where is the big black line that makes us differentiate and unite relative to the context? Is it in each of us ? Or is it in none of us ?

Beware! Marriage is not a word.
It’s a Sentence….not a Simple Sentence… but a Life Sentence!

Marriage is an institution in which
a man loses his Bachelor’s Degree and
the woman gets her Masters.

Marriage is a 3-ring circus –
Engagement ring, Wedding ring and Suffe _ring.

A happy marriage is a matter of give and take.
The husband gives and the wife takes.

After Marriage, it is sure she will make you a Millionaire!
Condition is that you should be a Multi-millionaire!

They say marriages are made in Heaven.
But so is thunder and lightning.

After marriage, husband and wife become two sides of a coin;
they just can’t face each other, but still they stay together.

WHY DO WE DO AARATI?

Towards the end of every ritualistic worship (pooja or bhajan)
of the Lord or to welcome an honored guest or saint,
we perform the aarati.
This is always accompanied by the ringing of
the bell and sometimes by singing, playing of musical instruments
and clapping.
It is one of the sixteen steps (shodasha upachaara) of the pooja ritual.
It is referred to as the lighted lamp in the right hand,

WHY DO WE OFFER A COCONUT?

In India one of the most common offerings in a temple is a Coconut.
It is also offered on occasions like weddings, festivals,
the use of a new vehicle, bridge, house etc.
It is offered in the sacrificial fire whilst performing homa.
The coconut is broken and placed before the Lord.
It is later distributed as Prasaada.
The Fibre covering of the dried coconut is removed
except for a tuft on the top.
The marks on the coconut make it look like the head of a
human being.
The coconut is broken, symbolizing the breaking of the ego.
The juice within, representing the inner tendencies (vaasanas)
is offered along with the white kernel - the mind, to the Lord.
A mind thus purified by the touch of the Lord is used as prasaada
( a holy gift).
In the traditional abhishekha ritual done in all temples and many homes,
several materials are poured over the deity like milk, curd, honey,
tender coconut water, sandal paste, holy ash etc.
Each material has a specific significance of bestowing certain
benefits on worshippers.
Tender coconut water is used in abhisheka rituals since it is believed to
bestow spiritual growth on the seeker.
The coconut also symbolizes selfless service.
Every part of the tree -the trunk, leaves, fruit, coir etc. is used in
innumerable ways like thatches, mats, tasty dishes, oil, soap etc.
It takes in even salty water from the earth and converts it
into sweet nutritive water that is especially beneficial to sick people.
It is used in the preparation of many ayurvedic medicines
and in other alternative medicinal systems.
The marks on the coconut are even thought to represent
the three-eyed Lord Shiva and therefore it is considered
to be a means to fulfill our desires.
