Its a happy day ,i got through to my first job in the campus .Its not the best job that comes in the campus but there is no other feeling like sitting early and get through to a first job . I cant reveal the names yet ,iam not supposed to .Thats what the college rules say .

My representative told me may be if i can wait for the bigger companies to come than sitting too early .But somehow when you have decided to do an mba ,i think placements are only going to be a backup .Get a job early and slog for CAT .Thats what i chose to do .

The selection process was very cool.A written test and about 40 % were selected for the next round (PI) and then finally they took some 18 students from all departments .And one thing that i was really happy about was that my interview lasted for around 160 seconds :P . yes  two HR questions like ” tell me about yourself ? ” and “Your short tem and long term goals ” and also one more ” Explain your dip from high schol marks to college grades :-) ” I said ” I got to do more in college than a school and although there is a dip in my grades i find myself more confident with the grades and activities than just high school marks . and couple of tech questions. And he said ” You can leave ” . i was surprised ,i thought interviews went for a little longer and i was worried if i had messed it up and then he finally put this question ” We have only IT /tech work, is that ok for you ? ” and i knew i had this one :-) .

Now that i have cleared one =wish me luck for my CAT ,its the one i want to break  .

Thanks a ton archie ,uday and loriz :-) dont forget to wish me for this one too :-)

“Its amazing that at a time when people crave for publicity and aim to get the ‘bang for the buck’, here is a person who refuses to take in credit.”  says kiruba .

He was one of the beneficiaries of the anonymous donor who donated $100,000 for icommons summit thereby helping close to 50 people attend it .

Found this interesting piece of information on the Freakonomics blog:

Tomorrow’s date is 7/7/07. If you believe in lucky 7’s (the influence of which we’ve written about before), it’s a good day. During a recent trip to Las Vegas, one casino executive told me that never in the history of Vegas have the hotels been booked so far in advance as they are for tomorrow. I predict that the New York Times wedding page will be pretty full this Sunday — although, are the people who post their wedding announcements in the Times really the type to believe in luck?

What do you guys think? Do you think that numbers drive luck more than time, perseverance and preparation ? or Do you believe that miracles, after all, need to happen once in an unfrequent while to help believe :) ?

What is it ?

Happy July 4th everyone!

I woke up this morning to a frenzy of media articles on July 4th and just thought I would do a mini-round of the media for you …just for fun :)!

Remember when July 4th was about outdoor lawn games, barbeque parties and all that outdoor fun ! Well, it still is to most people unless you are caught up in the frenzy of the new iPhone, trying to figure out how the heck to make it work, or standing in line for one of the two July4th blockbusters - Transformers and Ratatouille. Steve Jobs has a smile on his face for this July 4th and his stock options in Apple and Pixar might tell you why :).

Ofcourse, if you have already found your nice little spot in the sun this July 4th, you might not really want to care if you are doing part in eating a collective 150 million hot dogs, 700 pounds of chicken or 190 million pounds of red meat this weekend. After all, you got your sweet spot under the sun - nice little flexi-chair under a tree shade. And if you are still reading this article after all that good stuff gulped in, ughhh come on ..what am I talking about ? Who would want to miss the BBQ this noon and the close to 1 trillion dollar fireworks bonanza that will take over the country this evening ? ..not me ;)

Have fun you all!

{Seeing your colleagues tomorrow at work ;) ?}
