A 11 second video which I took when we went to Monterey Bay Aquarium. I tried to take pictures of these tiny jelly fishes, but damn! they move so fast. They make my camera feel so insecure
, telling me to buy a new one
They both were dancing so nice, couldn’t decide which one to focus on
Hope you enjoy the jelly dance

I just realized that my last post was on Aug 1st. sheesh!! is that really me? I mean really? the gal who used to write every other day, now writes once(twice) in a month. All I can say is, I was busy with my final exams(yeah right! final exams for a month?) I mean I did have final exams the whole last week

Anyways, my craze for photography started again in the past few weeks(wish I could put the graph n all). I hope not to get crazy, but I can’t help carrying my camera everywhere I go, take pictures every minute and trying my best not to make Uday go crazy. He already started saying, please stop taking pics for every few minutes and enjoy the beauty? What he said is right, may be I should take some time off.
So crazy that I take pictures while I’m driving, of insects that enter our apartment, the plants, chair, water droplets on my glass or.. this is even worse my vacuum cleaner????
(actually I’m looking at it now and thinking which angle would be good) The other day I was trying to capture the screensaver on our new mac mini. how stupid is that? Was glad that Uday didn’t say a word, but I still don’t get why he smiled.

In a way, I should thank my friend pattu and flickr groups for regaining my interest in photography. Not for the crazy ideas mentioned above, but when I look at the splendid, breathtaking, marvelous photos that different people across the globe take and their sheer interest that continues them to take such awe-inspiring pictures, it inspires me.
With that inspiration, here are some pictures I took on our trip to monterey bay acquarium(for now I uploaded a handful as there are 177 photos) and I hope that you have a good time watching them. Also, if you can leave constructive comments I will be very grateful. click here>>>My Photos

Paula Zahn, one of my favorite newswomen in the prime time CNN slot, is leaving CNN and is expected to announce her departure today.
I am not a huge fan but I certainly do appreciate her work in the wake of the 9/11 and aftermath. When she moved to her own primetime slot and stood beside stalwarts like Larry King & Anderson Cooper on CNN a few years back, I felt she brought a much needed balance to the typical CNN evening - what with her different political & social perspectives, her personality and her great smile, not to mention those lovely ear rings she wears once in a while ;).
One of my personal favorites in her show, not that she never had her own tongue biters, was when she went to a marine base right before election day in 2004 to have the nation hear from the families of soldiers fighting in Iraq. Not that I wanted Bush to win or something, but it felt like that act brought a balance to an otherwise tilted CNN evening. It helped me hear from people that thought most of this country’s response to an attack on its home soil. Did I mention the ear rings
?
I donot know for now if it is CNN singing Dont leave me and Paula Zahn singing Walk away or vice versa yet. I hope the blogosphere will soon reveal.

Anil Dash blogged about an unignorable infograph that CNN did about the how USA is getting fatter by the year !
I think this is something that the whole world ought to consider seriously at this point. On a side note, I wonder what the world’s obesity demograph would look like. A Couple of things :
- Hotter parts of the country in the south, are somehow ending up as the most affected parts consistently. I am from South India and I could venture to guess why this could be.
Traditionally, tropical climates are used to greater amounts of spice and plenty of play time in the Sun for kids growing up, not to even mention a whole summer vacation of just running around until we catch a thick, dark tan and get chided/stopped by parents. That culture is now being replaced quickly with Cheese, flat TVs, online social networks and indoor games (God bless the ‘fair is for beautiful’ frenzy).
I heard of a few friends of mine that live within the same block texting each other in India to make plans for the evening. I grew up just outside a small town where telephone access was a privilege. People (my parents’ age) would just walk to each others’ homes to greet and meet in the evening. Not to mention, they all worked in the same office ! May be, it was a little too much but it certainly did help my parents stay on the healthy side of BMI for a good amount of time.
- With Countries like Brazil, India and China celebrating new-found wealth, fansy luxuries are the talk of the town at this moment. I guess it is only human to be a luxury lover but if that is cutting into what we burn and adding to what we eat on a daily basis, it might be time to trade off our broad IT minds with our narrow waists before one can realize
- Fast food was fun. It still is once in a while to satisfy our cravings for that warm Donut or that guilt-free, carb rich lunch. It still could be, daily, if I can burn what I eat. But how much do I work out ? ummm……I guess I should go back to that diet chart that I made a few years ago
