A DARPA funded project has found an allegedly benign way to fight sleep deprivation. Cant get em loved ones to sleep? No problem…Just tell em you love em and mix a little Orexin with the morning coffee…
Oh! and make sure you got it labelled properly so you donot mix it with Sugar or Salt (or Cooking Soda).

Anil Dash blogged about an unignorable infograph that CNN did about the how USA is getting fatter by the year !
I think this is something that the whole world ought to consider seriously at this point. On a side note, I wonder what the world’s obesity demograph would look like. A Couple of things :
- Hotter parts of the country in the south, are somehow ending up as the most affected parts consistently. I am from South India and I could venture to guess why this could be.
Traditionally, tropical climates are used to greater amounts of spice and plenty of play time in the Sun for kids growing up, not to even mention a whole summer vacation of just running around until we catch a thick, dark tan and get chided/stopped by parents. That culture is now being replaced quickly with Cheese, flat TVs, online social networks and indoor games (God bless the ‘fair is for beautiful’ frenzy).
I heard of a few friends of mine that live within the same block texting each other in India to make plans for the evening. I grew up just outside a small town where telephone access was a privilege. People (my parents’ age) would just walk to each others’ homes to greet and meet in the evening. Not to mention, they all worked in the same office ! May be, it was a little too much but it certainly did help my parents stay on the healthy side of BMI for a good amount of time.
- With Countries like Brazil, India and China celebrating new-found wealth, fansy luxuries are the talk of the town at this moment. I guess it is only human to be a luxury lover but if that is cutting into what we burn and adding to what we eat on a daily basis, it might be time to trade off our broad IT minds with our narrow waists before one can realize
- Fast food was fun. It still is once in a while to satisfy our cravings for that warm Donut or that guilt-free, carb rich lunch. It still could be, daily, if I can burn what I eat. But how much do I work out ? ummm……I guess I should go back to that diet chart that I made a few years ago

I am not suggesting that we get served Bacteria for lunch but it looks like we just cannot get enough of it
I ran into this article on Digg about certain friendly Bacteria that I cannot find now. So I searched for “helpful Bacteria” online and found some very interesting things:
Most people have been conditioned to think of bacteria as harmful, but the reality is that we live in symbiosis with beneficial intestinal bacteria. The average person has about four pounds of bacteria in his body. The majority of this bacteria reside in the digestive tract […]
Western Australian scientists are set to put to work a toxin munching bacterium they discovered earlier this year. Their first task is to attempt the clean up of pesticide-contaminated groundwater

Ever wondered where the most expensive coffee in the world might hail from? I always thought starbucks was a buck too much for a cup of latte` but this one takes it to whole new level
In case you wanted to take a look at it, this is how it looks.
If you are wondering where it comes from…you might not be able to guess it unless you read it before, it comes from the half-eaten coffee-seed excretions of a Luwak ! That’s right..someonez busy running after the hiney of a creature that would scare the shit out of a kid face on ..what a job ! but hey, it pays
Apparently, the intestinal juices of a Luwak subtract the bitterness of a coffee seed and add a per pound value of anything between $400 - $600 per pound or a meagre $50 per cup of coffee!
So in case we meet in Indonesia and you are in the mood for it, lets go have some Kopi Luwak baby
!

Its time for the dentist appointment and the all-to-familiar ugly conversation about how one needs to floss frequently, as in hourly or daily, as opposed to weekly and yada yada …unless, you were on a raspberry diet, ofcourse. Read on ..

Sharing this message (Received by me through Mail) with others,
I hope is an important and not to be ignored one.
SPIDER BITE
*A spider bite…please read………..*
And you thought the brown recluse was bad!!!
Three women in North Florida , turned up at hospitals over a 5-day period,
all with the same symptoms :
Fever, chills and vomiting, followed by muscular collapse, paralysis
and finally, death.
There were no outward signs of trauma.
Autopsy results showed toxicity in the blood.
These women did not know each other and seemed to have nothing in common.
It was discovered, however, that they had all visited the same Restaurant (Olive Garden)
within days of their deaths.
The health department descended on the restaurant, shutting it down.
The food, water, and air conditioning were all inspected and tested, to no avail.
The big break came when a waitress at the restaurant was rushed to the
hospital with similar symptoms.

APPLES
Fruits and vegetables are excellent natural cures.
Not only they make a great snack food and deserts,
but also they can heal some of our common problems.
Health comes from common sense and natural food.
We should see if home remedy could reduce or heal
our everyday problem before spending money on
expensive medical treatments.
We should also look toward food as our medicine.
