Here is a funny pitch for a startup that Guy blogged about.
Apparently, he received an email from a recent mother with a subject line that read: “Everything you should know about me as an entrepreneur you could learn from my OB/GYN”?
Turns out it was a pitch for her startup
All I can say is:
when what is at stake is all yours (and so very selfishly felt), all bets are off and all odds are turned around.
Njoy

a pretty interesting and import weekend coming up . What happens if the deal is struck ?
Uday says:
I see this as a viable competitor for Google’s Adsense/Adwords machine. Both Yahoo’s Overture based Ad machine and Microsoft’s AdCentral lack the killer technology blow that Google delivers with its keyword targetted ads.
I still believe that there is room to grow however. In-text advertisements are still catching up. They have a far way to go to be non-intrusive. Post-Video rollouts are another segment that Google could not work its magic with.
Also, user feedback based Ad technology used by the likes of Adpinion have not been absorbed into mainstream products. Truth be told, I feel that Google’s campaign management tools within Adwords suck. Then there is the facebook beacon idea which backfired for now but could be resourceful if done in a more open way.
There is so much to grow and do in this segment ! We just gotta wait and watch !

Like any premiere college in india ,NITT has its own share of successfull alumni too and what better way for students to learn than from the men who actually did it .
Ever wondered how it should be talk/interact with people who passed out a decade ago and are up their in the ladder where you aspire to be ? better if they went to the same school you are .The flow of knowledge and guidance is almost infinity !.
It is in that desire and an attempt to create such a vibrant community for NITTians ,by them and for them that we have pulled up NITTians.com
While at the outset its going to aggregate all the blog/journals of NITTians we also want to use it a platform to showcase the things that happen in the campus and the things our alumni do in the real world !
It has already arrived and yes its hosted now at my shared hosting and not sure how its going toscale up .It would be great if any our rich
alumni can sponsor some good space ! .We have built this portal involving quite a few tools from python, php and memcache .We surely expect this site to pull up some bandwidth An ordinary ultracheap wont do the work ! it has to be a host thats good like the mediatemple or such hosts ! ther are surely going to be costly .But where there is a wil there is a way .
Iam sure with time we will find a solution to this as well ,dont panic if the sites goes down for a few hours ( shared hosting has it issues) and we will come out great soon, pretty soon infact !
keep watching NITTians.com .
Special thanks to alagu sundarrajan and suren for their enthusiasm, support and promised support and also the design guys who made up the logo and poster for us
thank you guys

Yes NIT-Trichy follows the big league. Now students have their own blogs from the college .
Its great to see that we are one of the first in the country to offer blog space for students.Other big universities that offer student blogs are Stanford and harvard .
It comes with a lot of aniticipation and also interesting how the content in the blogs will be monitored. No matter how much of freedom is given ,content on a institute sponsored site has to be monitored and i wonder how delta will rise up to this challenge .In the meantime enjoy http://delta.nitt.edu/blogs and btw these blogs have just been released and will be online soon
.NITT is undergoing a sea change here ,what with paying fees is just a click on the ATM machine. No more filling up chalans, waiting in Q and what not .
For those who cant wait here is the screenshot

The plans have also been updated to include feeds from college alumni although they wont be having accounts here ,i think its a good idea to build a closer network of your college alumni

“Any plans for weekend?” asks my friend, wearily expecting the famous one-liner back.
We were just driving back from work and there was not much energy left in either of us to think about what to talk and if to talk.
I plan to not plan this weekend, I responded.
Did one of you guys ever feel the need to have a non-eventful weekend where you are all by yourselves ? Yea, better if it is a nice little two-day period in the middle of a nice summer month when the beer is chilled, the pool is hot and the skies are pretty blue! Now, THAT would be my vacation

Its a happy day ,i got through to my first job in the campus .Its not the best job that comes in the campus but there is no other feeling like sitting early and get through to a first job . I cant reveal the names yet ,iam not supposed to .Thats what the college rules say .
My representative told me may be if i can wait for the bigger companies to come than sitting too early .But somehow when you have decided to do an mba ,i think placements are only going to be a backup .Get a job early and slog for CAT .Thats what i chose to do .
The selection process was very cool.A written test and about 40 % were selected for the next round (PI) and then finally they took some 18 students from all departments .And one thing that i was really happy about was that my interview lasted for around 160 seconds
. yes two HR questions like ” tell me about yourself ? ” and “Your short tem and long term goals ” and also one more ” Explain your dip from high schol marks to college grades
” I said ” I got to do more in college than a school and although there is a dip in my grades i find myself more confident with the grades and activities than just high school marks . and couple of tech questions. And he said ” You can leave ” . i was surprised ,i thought interviews went for a little longer and i was worried if i had messed it up and then he finally put this question ” We have only IT /tech work, is that ok for you ? ” and i knew i had this one
.
Now that i have cleared one =wish me luck for my CAT ,its the one i want to break .
Thanks a ton archie ,uday and loriz
dont forget to wish me for this one too

I have been having this question for sometime now with rupee gaining more and more with respect to dollar .
India has been seen as a big hand in IT primarily due to the Infosys ,TCS and CTS and also to the big American companies who have opened up here .One of the main reason behind this being that India is a developing country and hence the cost of human labour or infrastructure .What happens now if rupee gains much more strength against the dollar ?
What reasons will the american companies find to hire more talent here ? and bear the rising cost ? .As most of our IT is about outsourcing iam sure they would be affected too ,their services would become costlier .And as such we don’t have may product companies that can run on .
How do you see this happening ? will our jobs go down and go probably to another developing countries ?
